      Storyline

Over 10 years have passed since the first robot called The Terminator tried to kill Sarah Connor and her unborn son, John. The man who will become the future leader of the human resistance against the Machines is now a healthy young boy. However, another Terminator, called the T-1000, is sent back through time by the supercomputer Skynet. This new Terminator is more advanced and more powerful than its predecessor and its mission is to kill John Connor when he's still a child. However, Sarah and John do not have to face the threat of the T-1000 alone. Another Terminator (identical to the same model that tried and failed to kill Sarah Conner in 1984) is also sent back through time. This Terminator has been reprogrammed by the future Resistance on the orders of adult John. This Terminator's mission is to protect John and Sarah Connor at all costs. The battle for tomorrow has begun. Written by Eric ggg

      Trivia

In a deleted scene from The Terminator, Sarah looks up Cyberdyne Systems in a phone book and tries to convince Reese that they could blow up Cyberdyne, thus preventing Judgment Day and the future war against the machines. Reese disagrees, telling Sarah that such a move would be tactically dangerous and that blowing up Cyberdyne is not his mission. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah, John, Dyson and the T-800 actually do blow up Cyberdyne Systems and Sarah wears Reese's trench coat whilst doing so. See more »

(at around 6 mins) When both Terminators arrive from the future, the time machine apparently creates a spherical bubble that leaves red-hot edges. This wouldn't be a problem for the T-1000, but when the T-800 arrives he is on his hands and knees in a red-hot circle of melted asphalt. Since he's covered in human skin, his hands, feet and knees should be burned, but they aren't. See more »

      Alternate Versions

On the 'Ultimate Edition' DVD as well as the 'Skynet Edition' Blu-ray, there are three versions of the film, albeit only two at the menu, the Theatrical and Special Edition versions. However, highlighting the 'Special Edition' option and keying in '82997' (August 29, 1997), will open a Extended Special Edition Option, with the T-1000 searching John's room and an Alternate ending added on and replaced. Still going strong
      26 April 2006 | by lincoln-mauriceSee all my reviews

15 years on and still Terminator 2 remains a turning point in cinematic history introducing the world to photo-realistic computer generated 3D rendering. To this day, this is still an astounding achievement, however (ironically) these are the things that re-watching the film now, you notice as not being to the standard we now expect films to be.

As a result of this, you're then forced to look beyond the graphics in search of other quality. When I last watched it (about 3 weeks ago), something stood out to me that never did before because of no longer being mesmerised by the graphics.

This was the interactions between characters who are gritting, no nonsense, hard edged people, but those who care deeply for one another. In particular, I'm referring to Sarah and John Connor, but also to the inhuman T-101 in all it's programming trying to humanise itself (at the demand if John).

Though these might sound like day to day interactions (pardoning the whole terminator and robotic elements here), but to put them onto film and not have them feel forced or contrived is quite a feat, and all of these were achieved far above the expectation of one watching an "action" movie. You truly believe that John is devastated to have to lose T-101. You can tell he's fearful about Sarah going off to kill the man who would kill the world, unwittingly.

I urge you all to sit down and watch this film again. You will remember things you've long since forgotten, and maybe appreciate something you never even noticed was there before.
